DESCRIPTION
A special, limited-edition wine matured in our two Seguin Moreau "Fraicheur" oak barriques. This barrel was specially developed to enhance light, white varietal wines by Seguin Moreau of Cognac, respected French coopers. The oak is fine-grained and extremely lightly toasted and the barrel has acacia heads, adding brighter notes to the oak.
After the Gold Medal successes of our first Seguin Moreau "Fraîcheur" barrique, which we brought back from their tonnellerie (cooperage) in Cognac in 2016, we imported a second in 2019 to double our production of this multi-award-winning, limited edition wine. Then in 2020 a third, to replace our original after 5 vintages. This 2020 wine is the second vintage from barrel no. 2 and the first from barrel no.3.
We had a very small production of Madeleine Angevine grapes in 2020 owing to an early budburst and a late spring frost. So we put the whole production into the two barrels, because the Madeleine suits these barrels so well (and there was no "Jane's" 2020).
Only 543 bottles made, each hand numbered. No capsule over the natural cork closure.
Fully dry. English Wine PGI. Low in sulphites.
