The season at Oatley starts as soon as we have recovered from the grape harvest. After the Christmas wine sales, pruning and trellis maintenance go all through the winter, ready for budburst at the end of April.  The vines flower at the beginning of July and  the grapes grow through August, starting to soften and colour mid- to late-September.  The final run-up to harvest is a nervous time when the grapes are at their most vulnerable.  Harvest is a big social gathering and the culmination of the year's work.
