Fraicheur Barrel Matured
DOUBLE GOLD! We were chuffed to bits when this special, hand-crafted wine won a Gold Medal in the SWVA Competition Sep 2018, judged to international standards, and was awarded the SWVA Challenge Cup for the best oaked wine. And wow! Now a second Gold at the national Independent English Wine Awards Apr 2019!
Judges said, "Mineral, peach nose, good mouth feel. honeyed with good complexity, and soft spice." "Lovely peachy nose with buttery coconut." "Light, extemely well-balanced, great mixture of fruit and coconut/oak".
It is the second wine from our one Seguin Moreau "Fraicheur" oak barrique, matured in the barrel through the summer and autumn of 2017. Fully-dry. Only 290 bottles made, each one hand numbered. No capsule over the natural cork closure.
This barrel was specially developed to enhance light, white varietal wines by Seguin Moreau of Cognac, respected French coopers. The oak is fine-grained and lightly toasted. and the barrel has acacia heads, adding brighter notes to the oak.
Has the weight to pair well with any light dish, or just enjoy it on its own.
